Prof. Jason Podrabsky (Portland State University, USA) will address embryo development and diapause in annual killifish (and beyond)
Prof. Alexei Maklakov (University of East Anglia, Norwich, UK) will deliver a lecture on current state of understanding of why and how ageing has evolved.
Publications
We welcome contributions to a special issue of Journal of Vertebrate Biology (formerly Folia Zoologica). This is an independent, in-house journal (published by Institute of Vertebrate Biology, Czech Academy of Sciences). The Journal is Open Access and without publication fees (production costs are met by the Institute) and with rapid and rigorous peer-review. We plan to assemble a Special Issue, but separate submissions are also welcome. The Journal (founded in 1953) is indexed by ISI, though current Impact Factor is <1.

Scientific Program
The program will include oral and poster presentations relating to the biology of Nothobranchius fishes and closely related topics. Oral presentations will be organized into blocks focusing on specific themes. As in previous symposia, all presentations will be in a single hall (no parallel sessions), allowing delegates to attend all lectures. Posters will be displayed next to the lecture room in a spacious hall where coffee and snacks will be served.
Social Program
We expect to book a restaurant for two evenings that will accommodate all participants. We also plan to leave enough time for posters and general discussion.
All facilities are within a walking distance of the conference venue, which is located 1.5 km from the monastery where Gregor Mendel conducted his ground-breaking genetic experiments with pea plants, and 3 km from Brno city centre.
Brno is a small university town, with a low-cost and efficient city transport network (including night transport).
